For years, I knew many things about Jesus and considered myself a good person. I believed then—and still do—that Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died a brutal death, and rose again on the third day. But knowing those truths and having a personal relationship with Him are not always the same thing.

 

Even knowing all of that, I wandered from the path Jesus had for me. I made​ poor choices and tried to fill my heart with the things of this world—a college education, a career, marriage, friends, children, a home, and even my beloved pets. All of those things are blessings, but I learned that they can NEVER fill the place in our hearts that belongs to Jesus.

 

HE is the ONLY answer in life.

 

Over the years, Bible studies, prayer, and time spent in God's Word have drawn me closer to Him. Along the way, God also opened doors I never expected. He gave me opportunities to encourage others through devotions, poetry, speaking, and eventually children's stories that share the values He has placed on my heart.

 

Today, whether I'm writing for a child, sharing a devotion, praying with someone, or simply watching the sunrise with Jesus, my desire is the same: to use whatever God has given me to point others toward Him.

 

I don't share these things because I have everything figured out. Far from it. I share them because I know what it is to wander—and I know the grace of a Father who welcomes His children home.

 

I'm a prodigal who returned to her Father, and I pray for those who haven't yet found “the way, the truth and the life” and for those who have, but need encouragement along the journey back to Jesus.

It may have seemed a little quiet here lately, but God certainly hasn't been quiet in my life! Over the past year, I was blessed to have five book projects release in five consecutive months. It was an exciting—and very busy—season that left little time for blogging.

Now that the whirlwind has settled a bit, I'm looking forward to returning to Praying Prodigals and sharing more reflections, encouragement, prayers, and lessons God places on my heart.
